free everything

So, Saturday morning Kevin left early for work. I was browsing the Craigslist garage-sale and free sections when I came across a post titled "Free Estate Sale."

What did I do? Went. Obviously.
This, ladies and gentleman, is what I came back with...
These are specifically what I went for - the shutters! I'm thinking Pinterest can help me with these
(like this or this)
Brand new Christmas decor and crafts
A whole file folder holder full of brand new file folders (perfect for a future teacher!)
Cute sets of dishware, glassware, etc
Can't wait to make-over this kitchen canister set!
Crazy huh? It was just a free-for-all. Take whatever was left in this house. So, myself and a hundred other people made our way through this house, and took whatever we wanted. It was possibly one of the strangest things I have ever done.

Anyways, I hit up some not-free garage sales on the way home.
The only things I paid for were this cute little wine-rack table, brand new stamps, a cute mug, and bathroom accessories (16$ total)
Happy garage-saling!

That's a wrap!

Aren't Friday's just like nothing else. They are so great at leading into a Saturday that it almost makes Thursday full of the same awesomeness - merely by being the day before Friday. Just a thought.

We chilled Friday and ate a yummy dinner of I can't remember what. We made a game-plan for Saturday (which we do often). They go like this..we plan out the day verbally, as if we participate in some grand scheme of activities and must do so to keep a day together, then we repeat the chronological plan verbally to make sure we both understand. Then when it is time to actually enact the gameplan (Saturday early morning) Kev pretends like we didn't just plan out the entire day the night before - and makes me repeat it all again.

So we got up super duper early in preparation for intentional garage-saling. I had addresses written down, coffee in travel mugs, and my iPhone maps app ready. The goal: Dining room table and chairs. Maybe an entry-way table? Other things our new place could use. No junk.

The result: the exact kind of dining room set I was looking for within our price range (okay, maybe just a tiny bit over because it was perfect) and a few rugs in great shape for around the sliding glass doors (puppy mud prints). That's it I think..like I said - no junk!

Introducing our new table! Don't mind the mess on top..

It has six beautiful chairs and a leaf - so it will grow with us. Very excited about it and looking forward to recovering the cushions and re-staining the top at some point.

We then went to our old stomping grounds (Broadway) to clean the place and meet with our landlord. Turns out there is one good thing about living in a small place - less to clean. It went pretty fast (thanks to our gameplan) and we were done in a few hours. We parted ways with our landlord, deposit check in hand, and the last load of junk stuff in Kev's truck. We ran some errands and by the time we got to our new home we were too tired to even unload anything.

Sunday was rough. Really, how does losing one single hour wreck such havoc?!? Besides the pups waking up at 5:45 (really 4:45), I ended up falling asleep while knitting in the afternoon (yes, I am 23). We had a yummy breakfast, watched some NASCAR, unloaded the truck, made a Target run for some stuff for the house and just "Sunday stuff" like laundry and organizing and such.

Here's to being 98% done moving!! And our first storm last night in the new place! And the pups being able to RUN (see photo).

We miss you, families!

When September Ends

It may be 100 degrees, but it's fall. Kevin "harvested" his sunflower seeds this weekend. We cut off the heads, they are drying out now, then we'll soak the seeds, and bake! We already had a little sampling and they were AMAZING. This was a first for both of us...and now here we are, Mammoth Sunflower growers!

September

Pretty cool, if we say so ourselves. Can't wait for seed-baking/eating time. Special, very special, thanks to our best friends Jenn and Daniel for watering these babies when we had abandoned them for Pleasanton over the summer. They were troopers and made it through the Chico heat!

During a landscape observation project this weekend, I was lucky enough to get 2 flat tires. My fault of course since I went biking through walnut and almond orchards instead of staying on the somewhat paved roads. Anyways, saw some really awesome farm houses and ranches--and put some well-earned miles on my lovely cruiser.

Oh, and of course we had to make a Sunday evening Walmart run (ugh), to buy new tubes so that I can actually ride to school this week. Thanks to Kev for cleaning up my bike and pumping up my new tubes, ready to ride again!

Speaking of bike rides...we went garage saleing around the neighborhood Saturday afternoon and decided to put Tasha in my basket and take her with us. She did great! Oh, and Kevin bought a telescope from 1967 for $1. And it works! He's stoked.

The best part of this weekend has been getting to know Tasha. The more time we've spent with her, the more we just adore this little girl. She is SO well behaved, and loving, and loyal. We finally heard her bark (not really much of a bark, lol) as the Chico Air Show jets whizzed by overhead. We gave her a bath today after she decided to attack the hose water Kev was using. So much fun...

After all the excitement, it was time for a nap...

We are so impressed by this wonderful dog, any family would be lucky to adopt her. But for now, she is just reveling in all the attention. We haven't been away from here for more than an hour, and she was SO excited to see us when we got back you'd think we'd been gone for days. She is just do darn cute.

Another weekend done, another (HOT) school-week ahead.
